The 3M 7010294685 is an aluminum oxide cartridge roll designed for precision grinding, blending, and finishing on metal, wood, and composite surfaces. Built on an X-weight cloth backing with resin bonding, this roll delivers consistent cut rate and heat resistance through extended use cycles. At P120 grit, it sits in the fine-to-medium finishing range, making it well suited for surface prep work before coating or welding. The compact 0.75-inch by 1.5-inch roll with a 0.1875-inch arbor fits standard cartridge roll mandrels used in die grinders and straight-line air tools. Sold per roll with a minimum order quantity of 100 rolls.
This cartridge roll is used in metal fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production finishing environments. Typical applications include deburring, blending weld seams, cleaning inside bores and contoured surfaces, and surface conditioning on tight-radius workpieces. The P120 grit level is common in pre-paint and pre-coat surface prep where a uniform scratch pattern is required. Industrial grinding technicians, fabricators, and toolroom machinists are the primary installers of this consumable abrasive.
Designed for use with standard cartridge roll mandrels compatible with 0.1875-inch arbor diameter cartridge rolls, as used in die grinders, pencil grinders, and straight-line pneumatic tools common in metal fabrication and MRO applications.
Cartridge rolls are installed by threading the roll onto a compatible expanding mandrel and tightening per the mandrel manufacturer's specifications. Always confirm the tool RPM rating meets or exceeds the maximum speed rating of the abrasive before operation. Inspect the roll for damage or deformation before each use and discard any roll showing fraying or core separation. Eye protection and appropriate PPE are required during all grinding and finishing operations per applicable safety standards.
