The 3M 7010294478 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt engineered for intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications. It uses proprietary microreplication technology in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into precisely shaped pyramids and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear down during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed at the cutting surface. This self-renewing action delivers a consistent cut rate and predictable finish quality from the start of the belt's life to the end. The belt measures 24 inches in length and 3 inches in width and is sold individually.
This belt is suited for intermediate finishing and fine polishing prior to plating or buffing operations. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and irregular surfaces, making it effective for both flat stock and shaped workpieces. Its consistent cut and long abrasive life make it a practical choice for robotic and automated finishing lines where predictable output is critical. It is also well suited to light-pressure manual applications where maintaining a fine, repeatable surface finish is the priority. A built-in grinding aid helps control heat buildup, reducing the risk of heat-related warping or discoloration on sensitive workpieces.
Designed for use on belt sanders and finishing machines accepting 24-inch by 3-inch abrasive belts. Suitable for finishing metals and other hard materials prior to plating or buffing processes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with the belt sander or finishing machine in use. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing the belt. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the machine manufacturer's specifications before resuming operation. Confirm the belt arrow or grain direction marking aligns with the machine's direction of travel where applicable.
