The 3M 7010293956 is a length of FP-301 thin-wall heat shrink tubing measuring 48 inches long with a 3/16 inch recovered diameter, supplied in yellow. FP-301 is a general-purpose polyolefin heat shrink product engineered to deliver a reliable balance of electrical insulation, physical protection, and chemical resistance. It is widely used by electricians, instrumentation technicians, and military depot-level repair personnel to insulate splices, protect wire terminations, bundle conductors, and provide strain relief on cables and harnesses. The yellow color supports color-coded identification in multi-conductor wiring systems.
FP-301 thin-wall tubing is suited for industrial wiring, control panel builds, aerospace ground support equipment, and military electronics applications where a low-bulk, dual-wall-free solution is sufficient. It performs in environments requiring resistance to moisture, mild solvents, and abrasion. Electricians and electronics technicians install this tubing during new wire harness fabrication or repair work on existing assemblies. It is appropriate for both bench work and field service where a heat gun is available.
Designed as a general-purpose heat shrink sleeving for use with small-gauge conductors, wire splices, and terminal insulation in industrial and military wiring assemblies.
Installation is performed by electricians and electronics technicians using a calibrated heat gun set to the appropriate shrink temperature for polyolefin tubing. De-energize all circuits before applying heat shrink over live conductors or terminals. Slide the tubing over the conductor or splice before making the final termination where possible, as retrograde installation over completed terminations may not be achievable. Apply heat evenly along the length of the tubing to achieve uniform recovery and avoid scorching.
