The 3M 7010291209 is a Cubitron II 987C coated fiber disc engineered for medium to heavy-duty grinding, weld removal, and beveling applications. Built around 3M Precision-Shaped Grain, this disc maintains consistently sharp cutting points that deliver a high cut rate with reduced grinding pressure. The stiff fiber backing and strong resin bond give the disc the structural rigidity needed to hold up under high-pressure conditions. At 7 inches in diameter and 36 grit, it is suited for aggressive stock removal on metal fabrication and weld grinding tasks. Maximum operating speed is 8,600 rpm. Licensed tradespeople and industrial fabricators rely on this disc where productivity and disc longevity directly affect throughput.
This disc is designed for use in medium to heavy-duty metalworking operations including weld grinding, beveling, and surface preparation on ferrous and heat-sensitive alloys. The incorporated grinding aid helps dissipate heat at the work surface, making it particularly well suited for stainless steel and other alloys prone to heat discoloration or work hardening. It is appropriate for both handheld angle grinder setups and robotic or pressure-assisted grinding systems where consistent cut rate and extended disc life reduce changeover frequency and downtime.
Designed as an OEM-style coated abrasive fiber disc for use with standard 7-inch angle grinders and disc grinders equipped with appropriate backup pads rated for fiber disc use.
Installation and disc changes should be performed by a qualified operator with the grinder fully powered off and unplugged or locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Confirm the backup pad and hub are rated for the disc diameter and for operation at or above 8,600 rpm before mounting. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not use a disc that shows tears, fraying, or moisture damage. Always mount the disc according to the grinder and backup pad manufacturer instructions and verify the guard is in place before resuming operation.
