The 3M 7010291198 is an aluminum oxide abrasive cloth belt designed for metal deburring, general metalworking, and woodworking surface preparation. Built on an X-weight cloth backing, this belt handles heavy sanding and grinding loads without breaking down under high heat or pressure. The resin bond system keeps the abrasive mineral locked in place through demanding production cycles. At 36 grit, it cuts fast and aggressively, making it a practical choice for removing burrs, parting lines, and surface imperfections on metal and wood substrates. Licensed trades and metalworking shops rely on this belt for consistent stock removal across a range of applications.
This belt is suited for wide belt sanders, edge sanders, and portable belt sanding equipment. Its tube-shaped band design also allows it to fit onto a rubber expander wheel attachment used with a die grinder or rotary drill, giving it versatility for inner and outer contour work. It performs on metal substrates including steel and common non-ferrous metals, as well as wood. This makes it a practical dual-use consumable for shops that run both metal and woodworking operations.
Designed for use with wide belt sanders, edge sanders, and portable belt sanding machines accepting a 132-inch by 2-inch belt. Also compatible with rubber expander wheel attachments on die grinders and rotary drills when used in tube-band configuration.
Install and replace abrasive belts with the sanding machine fully powered off and unplugged or locked out per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the belt for tears or splice separation before mounting. Confirm belt tracking and tension according to the equipment manufacturer's specifications before resuming operation. Eye protection and appropriate respiratory PPE are recommended when sanding metal or wood.
