The 3M 7010290607 is a coated abrasive belt in the 747D series, engineered for stroke sanding and metal finishing on demanding substrates including stainless steel, nickel, and other ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. The belt uses a blend of ceramic and aluminum oxide grain bonded to an X-weight cotton backing that resists tearing under aggressive feed rates. At P100 grit, it cuts aggressively while leaving a consistent finish. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup during extended runs, extending belt life and protecting workpiece integrity. Installed by fabricators, metalworkers, and maintenance trades on stationary stroke sanders and wide-belt machines.
The 747D belt is sized at 202 inches long by 6 inches wide, making it compatible with large-format stroke sanding equipment used in metal fabrication shops, aerospace component finishing, and industrial maintenance environments. The anti-friction backing allows the belt to track and run smoothly at speed, reducing chatter and uneven wear. It is suited for production finishing on stainless steel panels, nickel alloy parts, and similar hard-to-finish metals where consistent surface quality is required across long runs.
Designed for use on large-format stroke sanding machines and wide-belt sanders that accept a 202-inch by 6-inch abrasive belt in coated cloth configurations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or maintenance technician familiar with wide-belt or stroke sander equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or replacing the belt. Verify belt tension and tracking alignment before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage prior to each use.
