The 3M 7010029929 is a coated abrasive sanding disc designed for random orbital and hook-and-loop sanders used in surface preparation, finishing, and material removal applications. Built on a C-weight paper backing for rigidity during aggressive sanding passes, this disc uses aluminum oxide grain and an open-coat, load-resistant construction to maintain consistent cut rate across the disc life. The proprietary multi-hole pattern evacuates dust more effectively than standard 5- or 6-hole configurations, reducing loading and extending usable disc life. Each disc measures 5 inches in diameter and carries a P150 grit rating, placing it in the fine-finishing range for wood, composites, and painted surfaces.
This disc suits residential and light commercial woodworking, cabinetry, furniture finishing, and general surface prep work. The Hookita hook-and-loop attachment system allows fast disc changes without manual hole alignment, making it practical for production environments where downtime between disc changes affects throughput. The P150 grit rating is appropriate for final stock removal before finish sanding or for smoothing between coats. Installers and finish carpenters working with wood substrates will find the open-coat construction particularly useful in preventing premature clogging when sanding resinous or soft wood species.
Designed for use with 5 inch hook-and-loop random orbital sanders compatible with the Hookita multi-hole dust extraction pattern.
Disc changes should be performed with the sander powered off and unplugged. Press the disc firmly onto the sanding pad to ensure full hook-and-loop engagement before starting the tool. Inspect the backing pad for wear before each disc change, as a worn pad reduces abrasive contact and shortens disc life. Follow sander manufacturer guidelines for maximum RPM to avoid disc separation during operation.
