It fastens directly to a 2-inch 3M Fire Barrier Cast-In Device for Metallic Pipes. After the slab is cured, the 3-inch foam insert is removed to produce a void 3 inches deep. The assembly accommodates concrete slabs as thin as 4.5 inches and supports pipe sizes from 1.5 inches to 2 inches. Licensed plumbers and fire-stop contractors install this assembly as part of a code-compliant penetration firestop system in concrete floor construction.
This assembly is intended for use in residential and commercial concrete slab construction where plumbing penetrations require a pre-formed access void. It is specifically paired with the 2-inch 3M Fire Barrier Cast-In Device for Metallic Penetrations. When the tub box assembly and cast-in device are used together, the system can accommodate certain non-metallic penetrants in addition to metallic pipe — consult system details for a list of approved penetrants. This product is sold individually and is suited for new poured-concrete floor installations.

Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or certified firestop contractors during concrete forming, prior to the slab pour. The tub box assembly must be secured to the cast-in device before concrete is placed. Remove the foam insert only after the concrete has fully cured.
