The 3M 7000144794 is a PTFE-impregnated glass cloth tape sold under the 3M 5453 product line in brown. This tape combines a woven glass cloth backing with a PTFE coating and a silicone adhesive to produce a high-temperature release surface suited for industrial process equipment. At 8.3 mil total thickness, it is the thicker backing version of the 5453 series, offering increased puncture resistance and abrasion resistance compared to the 5451. It is installed by maintenance technicians and machine operators on heat sealing bars, conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts where a slick, non-stick, chemically resistant surface liner is needed.
This tape is designed for use on heat sealing machines where the tape lines the bar beneath a hot wire that seals plastic film. It also sees use on conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts in production environments where product release and smooth material flow are required. The PTFE surface resists most chemicals and absorbs minimal moisture, making it suitable for demanding processing and packaging operations in light industrial and manufacturing facilities.
Designed for use on industrial heat sealing machines and process equipment including conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts requiring a high-temperature PTFE release surface.
Installation is typically performed by maintenance technicians during equipment downtime. Power down and de-energize all heating elements before removing old tape or applying new tape to heat sealing bars or process surfaces. Clean the substrate surface thoroughly to remove residue before application to ensure proper adhesion. Follow all applicable facility lockout/tagout procedures before beginning work.
