The 3M 7000144125 is a coated abrasive belt built on the Cubitron II 984F platform, engineered for demanding grinding and finishing operations in industrial and fabrication environments. It features 3M Precision-Shaped Grain on a YF-weight polyester cloth backing, delivering fast, consistent stock removal with reduced heat buildup. At 24 inches long and 1/4 inch wide with a 60-grit cutting surface, this belt is sized for narrow-contact applications including robotic and pressure-assisted grinding systems. A built-in grinding aid helps manage heat at the workpiece surface, lowering the risk of metal discoloration, oxidation, and heat-induced stress cracking.
This belt is designed for medium to high pressure grinding on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys. The YF-weight polyester cloth backing provides the rigidity and durability needed for sustained pressure in automated and manual grinding setups. It is well suited for production environments where consistent cut rate and long belt life directly reduce changeover frequency and downtime. Fabricators, tool-and-die shops, and aerospace component manufacturers working with difficult-to-grind alloys are the primary users of this belt.
Designed for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and exotic alloys in medium to high pressure grinding applications, including robotic and pressure-assisted grinding systems.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by qualified personnel following the belt grinder or finishing machine manufacturer's lockout/tagout procedures before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the machine manufacturer's specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the contact wheel or platen for wear or damage that could reduce belt performance or cause premature failure. Personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hearing protection, and appropriate gloves should be worn during belt changes and grinding operations.
