The 3M 7000138434 is a wraparound heat shrink cable repair sleeve engineered to restore and protect damaged cable sheaths in demanding electrical installations. The sleeve wraps around the cable without requiring end access, making it practical for in-place repairs on existing runs. Its inner wall is coated with a hot melt adhesive that bonds firmly to the cable surface when heat is applied, creating a watertight, corrosion-resistant seal. A corrosion-proof metal clip locks the sleeve closed prior to and during shrinking. At 47.2 inches in length and weighing 2.19 pounds, this sleeve is suited for substantial cable repair or joint protection work performed by licensed electricians and cable installation crews.
This sleeve is used in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical applications where cable sheath damage requires a reliable field repair without removing and replacing the entire cable run. It is also used at cable joints to provide additional mechanical protection and as a supplemental corrosion barrier on undamaged cables in aggressive environments such as direct burial, conduit, or exposed outdoor runs. Its wraparound design eliminates the need to thread the sleeve over a cable end, streamlining installation in tight or congested cable trays and conduit systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and field-repair solution for cable sheath repair applications across a range of cable diameters and installation types consistent with the HDCW-110/30-1200 series.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician following applicable NEC requirements and site safety procedures. De-energize and lock out the affected circuit before beginning any cable repair work. A calibrated heat gun or torch appropriate for heat shrink applications should be used to apply uniform heat along the sleeve length, starting from the center and working outward to prevent air pockets. Do not overheat any single section, as uneven shrinking can compromise the adhesive bond and seal integrity.
