The 3M 7000133848 is a gun-grade, latex-based elastomeric firestop sealant designed for sealing construction joints and through-penetrations in fire-rated assemblies. Ready to use with no mixing required, it cures upon exposure to air to form a monolithic, flexible seal. When installed in tested and listed systems, it provides up to 4-hour fire protection. The sealant comes in blue and ships in a 28 fl oz cartridge sized for standard caulking guns. It also functions as an acoustic barrier, achieving an STC rating of 56 when tested in a compatible wall assembly, and meets International Building Code requirements for firestop systems.
This sealant is used by fire-stop installers, mechanical contractors, and general contractors working on commercial and residential construction. It is suited for through-penetrations where pipes, conduit, cable trays, or ducts pass through fire-rated walls and floors. It also seals construction joints in fire-rated assemblies. The product is available in blue, red, or limestone, making it practical for color-coding firestop locations on a project. No primer or mixing is required, which simplifies installation in tight or congested penetration conditions.
Designed for use in tested and listed firestop systems addressing through-penetrations and construction joints in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies. Adheres to a full range of construction substrates including concrete, masonry, drywall, and metal.
Installation must be performed in accordance with the specific tested and listed system design to achieve the rated fire resistance. Before applying, ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free of dust or loose material. Follow applicable building codes, including IBC firestop requirements, and consult the tested system listing for required sealant depth and backer material. Only qualified firestop installers or licensed contractors should perform this work where code-required inspections apply.
