The 3M 7000132717 is a thick-wall heat shrinkable cable sleeve designed to protect electrical splices, connections, and terminations in demanding environments. Rated to 1 kV, it is manufactured from flame-retardant polyolefin and measures 48 inches in length, making it suitable for longer splice runs without joining sections. A factory-applied internal adhesive and sealant activates during shrinking to create a moisture-resistant, mechanically sound seal. The sleeve is flexible and highly split resistant, and its fast-shrink characteristics allow for quicker installation compared to standard thin-wall tubing. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance techs are the primary installers.
This cable sleeve is sized for 2 to 4/0 AWG conductors and is suited for use in medium-voltage splices, terminations, and connection protection in industrial, commercial, and mining environments. The black colorway and MSHA-rated designation indicate suitability for use in applications where flame retardancy and environmental sealing are critical requirements. The 48-inch length accommodates extended splice zones or multiple connections within a single sleeve.
Designed for use with 2 to 4/0 AWG conductors requiring heat shrink splice and termination protection rated to 1 kV in industrial, commercial, and MSHA-regulated environments.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and any applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying the sleeve. Use a calibrated heat gun rather than an open flame to achieve uniform shrink and full adhesive activation. Avoid overheating, which can damage the sleeve or the underlying conductor insulation.
