The 3M 7000132420 is a medium-wall, heat-shrinkable cable sleeve in the MDT series, engineered for reliable protection of cables in demanding electrical and industrial environments. Constructed from split-resistant cross-linked polyolefin, this sleeve is flame-retardant and delivers strong resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and chemical exposure. Each sleeve measures 48 inches in length and comes factory-applied with an adhesive sealant — a thermoplastic material that softens during heating, bonds to underlying surfaces, and fills small voids to create a secure environmental seal. Sold in cases of 20 sleeves per case, these unprinted sleeves are designed to shrink quickly and consistently with minimal training required for installation.
The MDT cable sleeve is suited for residential, commercial, and industrial electrical applications where cables require mechanical protection and environmental sealing. Compared to the heavy-wall HDT series, the MDT offers greater flexibility, making it appropriate for installations where cable routing involves tighter bends or where long-term flexibility under adverse conditions is a priority. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians typically deploy these sleeves on cable splices, terminations, and bundled wiring runs that require both flame-retardant performance and durable environmental protection.
Designed as an OEM-style medium-wall heat shrink sleeve for cable splice and termination protection in electrical and industrial applications. Select the size equivalent to the expanded inside diameter required for the cable or bundle being protected.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified technician following applicable NEC guidelines. De-energize and lock out all circuits before applying any heat shrink sleeve to cables or terminations. Use an appropriate heat gun or torch with controlled, even heat applied along the length of the sleeve to activate both shrink and adhesive sealant. Avoid overheating any single area, as uneven heat application can compromise the sealant bond and sleeve integrity.
