The 3M 7000132381 is a heavy-wall heat shrink cable sleeve rated for 1 kV applications, designed to provide mechanical protection, moisture sealing, and insulation over medium- and large-gauge conductor terminations and splices. Built for conductors ranging from 3/0 AWG through 400 kcmil, each sleeve measures 48 inches in length with an expanded inner diameter of 1.50 inches and a recovered inner diameter of 0.50 inches. The heavy-wall construction combines a heat-shrinkable outer layer with an adhesive lining that flows during recovery to form a watertight seal. Electricians and cable splicers use these sleeves on power distribution cables, underground feeder terminations, and direct-burial splice points where long-term moisture and abrasion resistance are required.
These sleeves are suited for industrial, commercial, and utility electrical installations where 1 kV-rated cable protection is needed. Typical applications include medium-voltage cable repair, feeder splice insulation, and termination protection on conductors in conduit, direct-burial, or exposed outdoor runs. Each box contains 5 sleeves, making them practical for job-lot purchasing on larger cable projects or service calls requiring multiple splices. The 48-inch length accommodates longer overlap zones and stepped-down transitions on heavy-gauge conductors.
Designed for use on copper or aluminum power conductors from 3/0 AWG through 400 kcmil rated at 1 kV. Intended for use with standard heat shrink tools capable of uniform heat application across heavy-wall tubing.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for insulation and splice protection. De-energize and lock out the circuit before sleeve installation. Use a calibrated heat gun or torch set to the temperature range appropriate for heavy-wall heat shrink material, moving the heat source evenly along the sleeve from the center outward to prevent voids or bridging. Avoid overheating any single zone, which can cause uneven recovery or damage the adhesive liner.
