The 3M 7000132165 is a heavy-wall, heat-shrinkable cable sleeve designed for electrical splices, connections, and terminations operating at up to 1 kV. Built from cross-linked polyolefin, this sleeve is rated UL Listed 486D for 600V (File Number E102356) and carries a CSA rating for installations where dual certification is required. At 48 inches in length, it is supplied as a cut-to-length sleeve, giving installers flexibility to trim to the exact dimension needed for the job. A factory-applied adhesive sealant is integrated into the wall, creating a moisture-resistant, mechanically protective bond during shrink. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors working on medium and low-voltage cable assemblies are the primary installers.
This cable sleeve is suited for residential and commercial electrical installations where splices, terminations, or connections on large-conductor cables require durable environmental and mechanical protection. The sleeve is engineered for conductor sizes from 1500 to 2500 kcmil, making it appropriate for heavy feeder runs and large service entrance cable work. Its fast-shrink characteristic supports efficient installation in the field, reducing labor time on high-conductor-count jobs. Applications include underground splices, junction connections, and cable repair scenarios where long-term moisture exclusion and dielectric protection are critical.
Designed for use with large electrical conductors ranging from 1500 to 2500 kcmil at system voltages up to 1 kV, consistent with the ITCSN series heavy-wall sleeve product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified, licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying the sleeve to any splice or termination. A calibrated heat gun delivering uniform, controlled heat is recommended to achieve full, even shrink without scorching the sleeve wall. Avoid open-flame heat sources, which can degrade the polyolefin material and compromise the adhesive sealant layer.
