The 3M 7000132160 is a heavy-wall, heat-shrinkable cable sleeve designed for electrical splices, connections, and terminations rated up to 1 kV. Built from cross-linked polyolefin, this sleeve is engineered for high split resistance and fast shrink times, allowing electricians to complete terminations quickly without sacrificing protection. The 12-inch cut-to-length format ships with a factory-applied adhesive sealant on the inner wall that activates during shrink, sealing the assembly against moisture and contaminants. It carries a UL 486D listing for 600V service and a CSA rating, making it code-compliant for commercial and industrial electrical work.
This cable sleeve is suited for medium-to-large conductor applications ranging from 3/0 AWG through 400 kcmil. Typical use cases include insulating and sealing direct-burial splices, underground distribution connections, and above-grade panel terminations in commercial, industrial, and utility settings. The heavy-wall construction adds mechanical protection against abrasion and environmental exposure, making it appropriate for both indoor conduit work and outdoor or wet-location installations where long-term seal integrity is required.
Designed for electrical splice, connection, and termination applications on conductors ranging from 3/0 AWG to 400 kcmil at system voltages up to 1 kV.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and any applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before beginning splice or termination work. Apply heat evenly along the sleeve using a calibrated heat gun, working from the center outward to prevent air pockets and ensure full adhesive flow. Do not use an open flame, as uneven heat can cause incomplete shrink or damage the sealant layer.
