The 3M 7000132158 is a heavy-wall heat shrink cable sleeve designed to protect electrical splices, connections, and terminations in systems rated up to 1 kV. Built from cross-linked polyolefin, this sleeve delivers mechanical and environmental protection in demanding electrical installations. It ships at 12 inches in length and is suitable for conductors ranging from 2 AWG to 4/0 AWG. A factory-applied internal adhesive and sealant creates a moisture-resistant bond on shrink, eliminating the need for a separate sealant step. The fast-shrink characteristic reduces installation time in the field. Licensed electricians and utility splicing crews are the primary installers.
This sleeve is used in residential, commercial, and light industrial wiring applications where low-voltage cable splices and terminations require durable insulation and environmental sealing. It is suited for direct burial, conduit, and above-grade installations where moisture ingress, abrasion, or mechanical stress are concerns. The cut-to-length format allows installers to size the sleeve precisely for the connection at hand, reducing waste on varied splice lengths.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard protective sleeve for low-voltage electrical splices, connections, and terminations on conductors from 2 AWG to 4/0 AWG in systems rated up to 1 kV.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize and lock out the circuit before working on any splice or termination. Apply heat evenly using an approved heat gun, working from the center of the sleeve outward, to ensure full adhesive flow and uniform shrink. Do not use open flame as a heat source, as it may degrade the polyolefin material and void the UL listing.
