The 3M 7000127173 is a corded, disposable foam earplug designed for workers who require reliable hearing protection in high-noise environments. Sold in a case quantity with a minimum order of one case, these small-diameter earplugs are engineered for individuals with smaller ear canals. The slow-recovery, low-pressure foam compresses for insertion and then expands to conform to the unique shape of each ear canal, creating a noise barrier with a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 29 dB and a CSA Class AL rating. The bright yellow color supports visual compliance checks by safety supervisors on busy job sites.
These earplugs are suited for continuous-wear applications across a wide range of industries. Recommended use cases include chipping, chiseling, drilling, furnace operations, grinding, heavy equipment operation, machining, pouring and casting, power fastening, riveting, sanding, sawing, and welding. Industries where these are commonly deployed include agriculture, automotive, chemicals, construction, general manufacturing, healthcare, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals. Each pair is stored in an individual poly bag to keep them clean and accessible for re-use. These earplugs are also test-compatible with the 3M E-A-Rfit Validation System.
Compatible with the 3M E-A-Rfit Validation System for workplace fit testing. Designed as a small-size variant of the Classic earplug line for workers whose ear canal dimensions do not accommodate standard-diameter disposable earplugs.
Proper insertion technique is critical to achieving the rated NRR. Roll the foam tip into the smallest possible cylinder before insertion, then reach over the head to straighten the ear canal and hold the earplug in place for several seconds while it expands to a full seal. Research indicates that actual noise reduction in field conditions may be significantly lower than the labeled NRR; NIOSH recommends applying a 50 percent derating factor to estimate real-world protection. Consult applicable OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95 or applicable regional hearing conservation regulations when implementing a hearing protection program.
