The 3M 7000127171 is a reusable, uncorded foam earplug designed for workers in high-noise industrial environments. The earplug features a slightly smaller diameter than standard-size Classic earplugs, making it well-suited for smaller ear canals. It is constructed from slow-recovery, low-pressure foam that conforms to the shape of each ear canal to create a consistent noise barrier. The Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) is 29 dB with a CSA Class AL rating. The bright yellow color allows supervisors to conduct visual hearing protection compliance checks at a glance. Licensed industrial hygienists, safety managers, and tradespeople in noise-regulated environments specify this earplug as a primary or supplemental hearing protection device.
This earplug is suited for both residential and commercial industrial applications where sustained high-noise exposure is a concern. Recommended applications include chipping, chiseling, drilling, furnace operations, grinding, heavy equipment operation, machining, pouring and casting, power fastening, riveting, sanding, sawing, and welding. Industries commonly using this product include agriculture, automotive, chemicals, construction, general manufacturing, healthcare, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals. The flame-resistant material also makes it appropriate for environments with potential arc flash hazards. Each earplug ships in a Reusable Pillow Pack to keep the earplugs clean between uses.
Compatible with the 3M E-A-Rfit Validation System for fit testing. Designed as an OEM-style reusable hearing protection solution for workers requiring a small-diameter earplug in industrial and commercial noise environments.
Proper insertion technique is critical to achieving rated noise reduction. Workers should roll the earplug into a tight cylinder before insertion and hold it in place until the foam fully expands in the ear canal. Personnel responsible for hearing conservation programs should reference OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95 and applicable ANSI S12 standards for fit testing and program compliance. Earplugs should be inspected before each use and replaced if the foam shows signs of soiling, deformation, or loss of elasticity.
