The 3M 7000125252 is a skived PTFE film tape with a silicone adhesive backing, sold in a 0.5-inch-wide by 36-yard roll at 3.8 mil total thickness. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) film provides a slick, non-stick surface that resists heat, chemicals, and buildup. The silicone adhesive maintains bond integrity at elevated temperatures where acrylic adhesives typically fail. This tape is used in industrial and manufacturing environments by maintenance technicians and process engineers to create low-friction, easy-release surfaces on rollers, platens, chutes, and other contact points. The conformable film allows it to wrap irregular surfaces without lifting at edges.
This tape is primarily applied in manufacturing and light industrial settings where a release surface is needed on rollers, guides, or conveyor components. It is also used for high-temperature masking and sealing applications where chemical resistance is required. The gray PTFE skived film conforms to curved and cylindrical surfaces, making it practical for wrapping roll stock in packaging, printing, and converting operations. Where conventional tapes break down from heat or chemical exposure, the PTFE construction maintains performance.
Designed for use on rollers, platens, guides, and similar contact surfaces in manufacturing and converting processes where a high-temperature, chemical-resistant release surface is required.
Clean the target surface thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before applying the tape to ensure proper adhesion. Tension the film evenly when wrapping rollers to avoid air pockets or overlapping seams that can affect surface uniformity. Use a hard rubber roller or squeegee to firmly seat the tape and eliminate bubbles. When removing or replacing the tape, avoid stretching the film against sharp edges that could tear the PTFE layer.
