The 3M 7000125202 is a UHMW (ultra-high-molecular-weight) polyethylene film tape designed for wear protection and friction reduction on industrial surfaces. It features a 5.0 mil translucent UHMW polyethylene backing bonded with a rubber-based adhesive, supplied on a paper liner. The tape measures 3 inches wide by 18 yards long at a total thickness of 6.7 mil. Its low coefficient of friction and high abrasion resistance make it a reliable choice for reducing wear on metal and plastic surfaces in demanding material-handling and industrial environments. Maintenance technicians and industrial service professionals are the primary installers.
This tape is applied to chutes, guide rails, containers, and similar surfaces where sliding contact causes wear or generates unwanted noise and vibration. It is suited for both metal and plastic substrates in light manufacturing, conveyor systems, and material-handling equipment. The rubber adhesive provides firm, conformable bonding to smooth and slightly contoured surfaces without the need for heat activation. It performs well in moderate-temperature environments where a non-lubricated, dry-film friction solution is preferred over greases or coatings.
Designed as an OEM-style protective film tape for use on plastic and metal chutes, guide rails, and containers in industrial and material-handling applications.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry the substrate thoroughly before application to ensure full adhesive contact. De-energize or lock out any machinery before applying tape to moving components or conveyor rails. Firm hand pressure or a roller should be used across the full tape surface to eliminate air pockets and promote adhesion. This product is intended for application by maintenance technicians or industrial service professionals familiar with surface preparation standards.
