The 3M 7000124668 is a Dual Lock reclosable fastener supplied as model SJ3871 in a continuous roll format. It features a black polypropylene mushroom-stem surface bonded to a modified acrylic adhesive backing, allowing it to mate with an opposing Dual Lock strip for a secure, repositionable closure. The fastener delivers 400 stems per square inch and an engaged thickness of 0.24 inches. It is rated for a closure life of 1,000 open-and-close cycles and maintains performance up to 180 degrees F. Trade installers in HVAC, electrical panel, and general industrial applications use this product to create clean, tool-free access panels and component mounting solutions.
This fastener is suited for both indoor and outdoor installations where a reclosable, pressure-sensitive mounting solution is needed. The modified acrylic adhesive bonds to a wide range of low to medium surface energy materials, making it practical for use in equipment housings, ductwork covers, and control panel liners. It performs well in medium-temperature environments and is appropriate for use on powder-coated paints, acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS, and polyethylene substrates. The roll format allows installers to cut to length on the job.
Designed for use on polyethylene, acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS, powder-coated paints, and other medium to low surface energy materials. Intended to mate with an opposing 3M Dual Lock strip for a complete reclosable fastener system.
Clean and dry the substrate thoroughly before applying the adhesive-backed strip, as surface contamination will reduce bond strength. Cut the roll to the required length using shears or a utility knife. Apply firm hand pressure along the full length of the strip to ensure full adhesive contact. Allow adequate dwell time before loading the closure, following standard pressure-sensitive adhesive bonding practice.
