The 3M 7000124632 is the Scotch 890MSR polyester filament tape, a fiberglass-reinforced pressure-sensitive tape engineered for demanding bundling, wrapping, and securing applications where standard tapes fail. Built on a modified synthetic rubber adhesive system, it bonds reliably to oily, greasy, and heavily contaminated metal surfaces without surface prep. The 0.940-inch width and 60.140-yard length per roll make it practical for production-line use, maintenance shops, and field service work. Techs and tradespeople reach for 890MSR when wrapping heavy-gauge metal components, securing wire bundles on equipment exposed to oils, or strapping fabricated parts for transit or storage.
This tape is suited for industrial maintenance, HVAC equipment assembly, metal fabrication shops, and electrical or mechanical service environments where exposure to petroleum-based fluids, moisture, and physical abrasion is expected. The filament reinforcement delivers high tensile strength across the tape width, resisting splitting or tearing under bundling tension. It is also used for long-term holding applications on steel, aluminum, and other metals in both shop and field settings where the assembly may see ongoing exposure to gas or oil mist.
