The 3M 7000124320 is a double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for demanding bonding applications across a range of surface energy levels. At 32 mil thick, it delivers a conformable, compressible bond layer that accommodates surface irregularities while maintaining strong adhesion. The tape bonds high, medium, and medium-to-low surface energy substrates and provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance. It ships in a 1-inch-wide by 72-yard roll with a PE film liner for clean, controlled application. Licensed contractors, fabricators, and trade installers working with panel assemblies, structural glazing, signage, and similar assemblies will recognize this as part of the 3M VHB product family.
This tape is suited for applications requiring a conformable, load-bearing adhesive layer in place of mechanical fasteners or liquid adhesives. Typical uses include bonding metal, glass, painted surfaces, and select plastics in both residential and commercial construction, HVAC panel assembly, electrical enclosure fabrication, and industrial manufacturing. The closed-cell foam core resists moisture intrusion, making it appropriate for interior and protected exterior installations. The 72-yard roll length supports production-volume work where continuous bonding runs are needed.
Designed for bonding metal, glass, painted surfaces, and select plastics where high, medium, or medium-to-low surface energy substrates are present. Verify surface preparation and substrate compatibility per standard VHB application guidelines before installation.
Surface must be clean, dry, and free of oils, dust, and loose material before applying tape. Apply firm, uniform pressure across the bonded area immediately after placement to activate full adhesive contact. Allow adequate dwell time before loading the bond. Removal of VHB tape from finished surfaces may cause damage — plan bond placement carefully before application.
