The 3M 7000124123 is a double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for structural bonding and surface mounting applications. At 25 mil thick, it conforms readily to irregular surfaces and bonds to high, medium, and medium-to-low surface energy substrates. The tape ships on a PE film liner and is sold as a single roll measuring 1 inch wide by 36 yards long. It provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance in addition to its primary adhesive function. Installers in HVAC, electrical, and general construction trades use this tape where mechanical fasteners are impractical or where a clean, flush bond is required.
This tape is suited for both residential and light commercial applications. Common use cases include bonding metal, glass, painted surfaces, and select plastics in panel assembly, signage mounting, weatherstripping attachment, and component securing on equipment enclosures. The black foam core helps mask the bond line on finished assemblies. It is particularly useful in HVAC cabinet assembly and electrical panel work where a conformable, long-term adhesive bond is needed without drilling or surface damage.
Designed for bonding metal, glass, painted surfaces, and compatible plastics in HVAC, electrical, construction, and general industrial assembly applications.
Surface preparation is critical for maximum bond strength — clean the substrate thoroughly and allow solvents to fully evaporate before applying the tape. Apply firm, even pressure across the full tape length to ensure full contact adhesion. Allow adequate dwell time before loading the bond. Follow applicable building and equipment codes when using adhesive tape in place of mechanical fasteners in load-bearing or code-governed assemblies.
