The 3M 7000123948 is a strapping tape built on a tensilized polypropylene backing with a synthetic rubber resin adhesive. Sold as the 3M Strapping Tape 8896 in ivory, it delivers 160 pounds per inch of width in tensile strength, making it well suited for bundling, palletizing, and reinforcement tasks that also require clean removal. The tape measures 24mm wide on a 55-meter roll. It bonds reliably to a wide variety of surfaces without leaving adhesive residue behind, which is a key requirement in applications where finished goods or packaging must stay clean after the tape is pulled.
This tape is used in light industrial, warehouse, and distribution environments where secure bundling is needed without permanent adhesion. It is commonly applied to carton reinforcement, unitizing multiple items for shipment, and temporary holding during assembly or staging operations. The clean-removal characteristic makes it appropriate for use on finished surfaces where residue would create rework or damage concerns. Installation and application require no special tools beyond a tape dispenser compatible with 24mm roll stock.
Designed for use with standard 24mm-wide tape dispensers and compatible with a wide variety of packaging surfaces including corrugated carboard, film-wrapped bundles, and rigid substrates where clean removal is required.
This tape is applied by hand or with a compatible 24mm tape dispenser and requires no special trade certification. Ensure the application surface is clean and dry before taping to achieve full adhesive contact. When removing, pull the tape back at a low angle to minimize the risk of surface marking. Store rolls away from direct heat and sunlight to maintain adhesive performance.
