The 3M 7000123940 is a general purpose PTFE glass cloth tape sold under the 3M 5151 product line. It consists of a fiberglass cloth substrate impregnated with PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) and coated with a silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. The tape measures 0.75 inches wide by 36 yards long at 3.5 mil thickness and has a light brown finish. PTFE impregnation gives the tape chemical resistance, a low-friction surface, and strong abrasion and puncture resistance with minimal moisture absorption. Technicians and equipment maintenance crews use it on heat sealing machines and process equipment where consistent, easy-release performance is required over extended service cycles.
This tape is suited for industrial and commercial process environments. Common applications include lining conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts to keep material flow moving without buildup or sticking. It also sees heavy use on heat sealing bars and platens in packaging equipment, where repeated heat and pressure cycles demand a durable, non-stick surface. The silicone adhesive holds reliably against heat and chemicals while still allowing clean removal when service is needed.
Designed for use on heat sealing machines, process equipment, and conveying components including chutes, troughs, and ducts where a non-stick, chemically resistant surface is required.
This tape is applied by hand or with a tape dispenser and does not require special tooling. Before application, clean the substrate surface thoroughly to remove oils, dust, and debris to ensure full adhesive contact. On heat sealing equipment, power down and allow surfaces to cool to a safe handling temperature before applying or replacing tape. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as distortion can reduce adhesive contact area and shorten service life.
