The 3M 7000123932 is a pressure-sensitive adhesive transfer tape loaded with thermally conductive ceramic fillers, sold as part of the 3M 8810 series. No heat cure cycle is required to form a strong bond. The tape is designed to create a preferential heat-transfer path between heat-generating components and heat sinks, fans, heat spreaders, or heat pipes. Its soft, conformable construction allows it to wet to non-flat and irregular surfaces, delivering high adhesion and reliable thermal interface performance. The roll measures 1.5 inches wide by 36 yards long. HVAC technicians, electronics assemblers, and thermal management specialists commonly install this product.
This tape is suited for applications where a thermal interface material must also provide electrical insulation between mated surfaces. Typical use scenarios include bonding heat sinks to power electronics, circuit boards, LED assemblies, motor drives, and similar heat-generating components inside both residential and commercial equipment. Because no cure cycle is required, installation is straightforward in field or shop environments. It is appropriate wherever a thin-profile, conformable thermal interface and adhesive bond are needed simultaneously.
Designed as a general-purpose thermally conductive adhesive transfer tape compatible with a wide range of substrates including metals, plastics, and circuit board materials commonly found in HVAC, power electronics, and LED thermal management assemblies.
Installation is performed by technicians or assemblers working with electronic, HVAC, or power-management equipment. De-energize and discharge all components before applying the tape to any heat sink or power device. Clean and dry the mating surfaces before application to ensure full adhesive contact. Apply firm, even pressure across the bonded area to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive and establish the thermal interface.
