The 3M 7000123927 is a black, double-sided, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for high-strength bonding across a wide range of surface energy levels. At 25 mil thick, the tape conforms to irregular surfaces and delivers a durable, permanent bond without mechanical fasteners. Each roll measures 1 inch wide by 72 yards long. The foam core provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance alongside its primary adhesive function. A PE film liner protects the adhesive during handling. This tape carries a UL 746C listing and is installed by fabricators, glaziers, signage contractors, and industrial maintenance technicians.
This tape is suited for applications where bonding high, medium, or medium-low surface energy substrates is required. Common uses include attaching architectural panels, nameplates, trim, and signage to painted metal, aluminum, glass, and certain plastics. The pressure-sensitive design allows for immediate handling strength upon application, making it practical in production-line and field installation settings where clamps or fixtures are impractical.
Designed for bonding high, medium, and medium-low surface energy substrates including painted metals, aluminum, glass, and select plastics in fabrication and panel-attachment applications.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry all substrates thoroughly before application; contaminants such as oils, dust, or release agents will reduce bond strength. Apply firm, uniform pressure across the tape length immediately after positioning to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive. Allow adequate dwell time before loading the bond. No power shutoff is required, but work area temperature and substrate temperature should be within the tape manufacturer's recommended application range.
