The 3M 7000123861 is a double coated removable repositionable tape featuring two distinct acrylic adhesives on a UPVC carrier with a 58 lb. polycoated kraft paper liner. One side carries high tack Acrylic Adhesive 420, optimized for bonding to plastics and a wide variety of surfaces, with a bonding temperature range down to 32 degrees F and short-term heat resistance up to 300 degrees F. The opposite side uses medium tack Repositionable Acrylic Adhesive 1050, which holds reliably and releases cleanly without surface damage. This tape rolls out at 24 inches wide by 72 yards long at a 5.8 mil thickness. It is used in industrial, trade, and commercial fabrication applications where temporary or repositionable bonding is required.
This tape is suited for applications requiring differential adhesion — permanent or semi-permanent bonding on one face and clean, repositionable attachment on the other. Typical use cases include mounting graphics, signage, foam, films, and lightweight panels to a variety of substrates including plastics and painted surfaces. The differential adhesive construction makes it appropriate for assembly workflows where components may need to be repositioned before final installation, as well as for temporary fixture and holding operations in fabrication environments.
Designed for bonding to plastics, painted surfaces, and a wide variety of substrates where differential adhesion or repositionability is required. Specific substrate compatibility should be verified by application testing prior to production use.
Surface preparation is critical — substrates should be clean, dry, and free of oils or contaminants before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape surface to ensure full adhesive contact. When using the repositionable side for temporary placement, avoid exceeding the adhesive dwell time recommended for your substrate if clean removal is required. Handle the liner carefully during application to prevent premature adhesive contact with unintended surfaces.
