The 3M 7000123749 is a 5.0 mil adhesive transfer tape built around a 300 high strength acrylic adhesive carried on a 3.5 mil, 60 lb densified kraft paper liner. The tape delivers aggressive initial adhesion and is well suited to bonding high surface energy (HSE) and low surface energy (LSE) materials alike. It comes in a 6 inch wide roll running 60 yards in length, making it practical for continuous laminating and splicing tasks. Installation professionals and fabricators working with films, foils, fabrics, foams, and metal or plastic nameplates will find this format efficient for high-volume applications.
This transfer tape is designed for general purpose bonding across a wide variety of similar and dissimilar substrates. Typical applications include splicing film, foil, and fabric rolls, as well as laminating foam pads, photographs, fabrics, and metal or plastic nameplates. Its high initial tack makes it suited for thin, high-bond-strength applications where a wet adhesive or mechanical fastener would be impractical. The tape performs well in environments where good UV resistance and chemical resistance are required, extending the service life of the bond in exposed or chemically active settings.
Designed for bonding a wide variety of similar and dissimilar materials including films, foils, fabrics, foams, and metal or plastic nameplates; functions as a thicker alternative to the 3M 927 transfer tape.
Surface preparation is critical before application — clean, dry, and degrease all bonding surfaces to maximize adhesion. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape after positioning to ensure full contact between the adhesive and substrate. Once the liner is removed and the tape is applied, repositioning is not recommended due to the high initial tack of the acrylic adhesive. Allow adequate dwell time at room temperature before subjecting the bond to stress loads.
