The 3M 7000123712 is a conformable, double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape sold in a 1-inch-wide by 36-yard roll at 62 mil thickness. Designated as 4979F in the VHB product family, it features a PE film liner for handling convenience during application. The closed-cell acrylic foam construction delivers cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance alongside a strong permanent bond. It is plasticizer resistant, making it suitable for use near PVC and other plasticizer-emitting materials. The tape carries a UL listing under 746C, confirming its suitability for use with polymeric materials in listed applications. It is commonly installed by HVAC technicians, electricians, panel fabricators, and general trade contractors.
This tape is designed for bonding high and medium surface energy substrates in both residential and commercial applications. Typical use cases include mounting, gasketing, and sealing applications on metal panels, painted surfaces, glass, and many rigid plastics where mechanical fasteners are impractical or where vibration isolation is required. The 62 mil thickness makes it well suited for filling minor surface gaps and providing a durable, weather-resistant bond line in assemblies exposed to thermal cycling or outdoor conditions.
Designed for bonding high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and rigid plastics. Suitable for use in HVAC panel assembly, electrical enclosure sealing, and general trade fabrication applications where a conformable double-sided foam tape is required.
Surface preparation is critical — clean bonding surfaces of oils, dust, and loose material before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape length to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive and ensure full contact. Allow adequate dwell time at room temperature before subjecting the bond to load or stress. This product is not a substitute for structural fasteners in load-bearing applications.
