The 3M 7000123605 is a white, double coated, closed-cell polyethylene foam tape offered in a 3/4-inch wide by 36-yard roll at 1/16 inch thick. The foam core is conformable, allowing it to seat against irregular or slightly uneven surfaces. Both adhesive faces provide bonding to a range of substrates including plastics, metals, painted surfaces, and composites. The tape is suited for light-duty bonding and mounting tasks where a compressible, gasketing-style interlayer is needed between two surfaces. HVAC, electrical, and general trade applications frequently use this tape for panel trim attachment, wire management clips, light fixture mounting pads, and similar low-load assembly work.
This tape is used across residential and light commercial settings. Common applications include attaching foam weatherstripping backings, securing nameplates and labels, bonding lightweight trim components, and providing a cushioning layer between mating parts. Its conformable closed-cell foam construction makes it useful anywhere a slight gap fill combined with adhesion is required. The 36-yard roll length is appropriate for production-line or service-van stock use.
Designed as an OEM-style and aftermarket tape solution for light-duty bonding applications on plastics, metals, and painted surfaces across HVAC, electrical, and general trade assemblies.
Surface preparation is critical for adhesive performance — clean bonding surfaces of oil, dust, and moisture before application. Apply firm hand pressure across the full tape length to achieve proper adhesive contact. No special tools or licensed trade certification is required for application, though surfaces should meet the tape manufacturer's minimum temperature requirements before bonding. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as this reduces effective contact area and long-term adhesion.
