The 3M 7000123598 is a gray, double-sided, closed-cell acrylic foam tape sold in a 0.75-inch-wide by 72-yard roll at 25 mil thickness. The tape carries a pressure-sensitive adhesive on both faces and ships with a paper liner for handling ease. It bonds reliably to high and medium surface energy substrates, including most metals, glass, and painted surfaces. The conformable foam core provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance in addition to the structural bond. The adhesive formulation is plasticizer resistant, making it suitable for long-term contact with plastics and other treated surfaces. Licensed professionals and fabricators in sign, glazing, electrical, HVAC panel assembly, and general industrial applications use this tape as a fastener alternative or supplement.
This tape is suited for indoor and outdoor bonding applications where a clean, rivet-free or screw-free attachment is required. Typical uses include attaching nameplates, trim, gaskets, weather seals, and decorative panels in both residential and light commercial construction and manufacturing environments. The 72-yard roll length reduces changeovers in higher-volume applications. The gray color is compatible with many metal and coated surfaces without visual mismatch during installation.
Designed for bonding to high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and painted or coated surfaces. Adhesion to low surface energy plastics may require a primer; consult 3M substrate compatibility guidance before application.
Surface preparation is critical — clean bonding surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely before applying the tape. Apply firm, even pressure across the full bond area immediately after placement to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive. Full bond strength develops over 72 hours at room temperature; avoid stress loading the joint during cure. Use a utility knife or approved tape dispenser for clean cuts; avoid stretching the tape during application.
