The 3M 7000123502 is a double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape sold under the VHB Tape 4941 product line. Available in gray, it measures 0.5 inches wide by 36 yards long with a 45 mil thickness and includes a paper release liner. The tape is conformable and bonds strongly to high and medium surface energy substrates including painted metal, glass, and many plastics. It provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance in addition to its primary bonding function. Plasticizer resistant construction keeps the bond intact in contact with vinyl and other plasticizer-bearing materials. Licensed trade professionals and fabricators use this tape in demanding assembly and mounting applications.
VHB Tape 4941 is suited for industrial, construction, and trade applications where mechanical fasteners or liquid adhesives are impractical. Typical uses include panel bonding, sign mounting, gasketing, and component assembly on surfaces with moderate to high surface energy. The tape performs in both indoor and outdoor environments and is appropriate for applications requiring long-term structural bonding with vibration and impact resistance. The closed-cell foam core also serves as a conformable spacer or seal layer in multi-material assemblies.
Designed for bonding to high and medium surface energy substrates including painted metal, glass, and select plastics. Verify surface energy and cleanliness prior to application, as bonding performance varies by substrate.
Surface preparation is critical — clean bonding surfaces thoroughly with an appropriate solvent cleaner and allow to dry completely before applying the tape. Apply firm, uniform pressure across the tape after placement to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive and maximize initial bond strength. Allow adequate dwell time before applying load to the assembly; bond strength continues to build over 24 to 72 hours. This product is typically applied by assembly technicians, glaziers, sign installers, or trade professionals familiar with pressure-sensitive adhesive systems.
