The 3M 7000123489 is a gray, double-sided, closed-cell acrylic foam tape sold in a small-pack roll measuring 3/4 inches wide by 36 yards long at a 45 mil thickness. Conformable construction allows it to follow irregular surfaces and fill minor gaps between mating parts. The pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds to high and medium surface energy substrates without heat, rivets, or liquid adhesives. Trade professionals use this tape in HVAC panel assembly, electrical enclosure fabrication, and general industrial bonding where a clean, permanent attachment is required. It carries a UL 746C listing for use in component applications.
This tape is appropriate for both light commercial and industrial assembly work where surface bonding must withstand vibration, thermal cycling, and incidental impact. Common applications include mounting nameplates, sealing trim panels, bonding gaskets, and attaching lightweight fixtures to metal or painted surfaces. The closed-cell foam core provides cushioning and dampening between bonded substrates. Plasticizer resistance makes it suitable for use with PVC and other flexible polymer surfaces commonly encountered in mechanical and electrical installations.
Designed for bonding to high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many painted or coated surfaces. Suitable for general industrial, commercial, and mechanical assembly applications where double-sided foam tape bonding is specified.
Surface preparation is critical for maximum bond strength — clean mating surfaces thoroughly to remove oils, dust, and loose coatings before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the full tape width to ensure full adhesive contact. Allow adequate dwell time at room temperature before loading the bond. No special tools are required, but cutting should be done with a sharp blade to avoid tearing the foam core and compromising edge adhesion.
