The 3M 7000123488 is a gray, double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape sold under the VHB Tape 4941 product line. At 45 mil thick, it delivers a conformable bond layer that distributes stress across the joint rather than concentrating it at a single point. The tape ships on a roll measuring 0.5 inches wide by 36 yards long with a paper liner that aids in handling and positioning before final application. Licensed trade installers and industrial maintenance professionals use this tape where mechanical fasteners are impractical or where a clean finished appearance is required. It resists plasticizer migration, which extends service life when bonded to PVC and other plasticizer-containing substrates.
VHB Tape 4941 is suited for bonding high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many painted or coated surfaces. Its closed-cell acrylic foam core provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance, making it appropriate for panel attachment, sign mounting, and component assembly in both interior and exterior applications. The tape carries a UL 746C listing, making it relevant for electrical enclosure and component applications where listed materials are specified. It is used across HVAC, electrical, and general construction trades for sealing, mounting, and bonding tasks that demand long-term adhesive performance without mechanical fasteners.
Designed for bonding high and medium surface energy substrates such as metals, glass, and coated or painted surfaces. Not recommended for low surface energy plastics such as polyethylene or polypropylene without surface preparation or primer.
Surface preparation is critical for full adhesive performance — clean bonding surfaces thoroughly to remove oils, dust, and loose material before applying the tape. Apply firm pressure across the entire bond area immediately after positioning to initiate full contact adhesion. Allow adequate dwell time at room temperature before subjecting the joint to load or environmental stress. Cut tape with a sharp blade or approved tape dispenser to maintain clean edges and avoid delamination at the cut point.
