The 3M 7000123456 is a 5 mil double coated tape featuring a high performance acrylic adhesive system bonded to a 1.0 mil clear polyethylene terephthalate (PET) carrier film. It is designed for demanding bonding applications where dimensional stability, die-cut precision, and adhesion to difficult substrates are required. The tape ships on a 4.5 mil unprinted polycoated kraft paper liner in a 1.5 inch wide by 36 yard roll. Installers and fabricators working with plastics, powder coated metals, and low surface energy materials rely on this tape where conventional pressure-sensitive tapes fail to hold.
This double coated tape is suited for industrial assembly, sign and display fabrication, electronics manufacturing, and similar applications requiring a thin, transparent bond line. Its high performance acrylic adhesive delivers strong holding power on low surface energy substrates including most plastics and powder coated surfaces. Short-term heat resistance up to 350 degrees F makes it appropriate for assemblies that see elevated operating temperatures. The 58 unprinted polycoated kraft liner is engineered to reduce edge burr when hard tool die cutting is used in production environments.
Designed for bonding to low surface energy plastics, powder coated metals, and other difficult surfaces where standard acrylic or rubber-based tapes lack sufficient adhesion.
Surface preparation is critical before application — clean the substrate thoroughly to remove oils, dust, and contaminants for maximum bond strength. Apply firm, uniform pressure across the tape surface after positioning to ensure full adhesive contact. When die cutting, use the kraft liner side against the tooling to take advantage of the liner's edge-burr reduction properties. Allow adequate dwell time at room temperature before subjecting the bond to stress or elevated heat.
