The 3M 7000123416 is a 5 mil double coated tape built on a 1.0 mil clear polyester (PET) carrier film with high performance acrylic adhesive on both sides. It is 0.5 inches wide and 36 yards long, wound on a roll with a 4.5 mil unprinted polycoated kraft paper liner. The acrylic adhesive is formulated for strong bonding to low surface energy (LSE) substrates, including powder coated metals and most plastics. Short-term heat resistance reaches 350 degrees F. Fabricators, assemblers, and industrial maintenance technicians use this tape in applications where a thin, dimensionally stable carrier and reliable adhesion to difficult surfaces are required.
This tape is suited for industrial bonding, assembly, and fabrication operations in both light manufacturing and maintenance environments. Surface preparation is critical before application — clean bonding surfaces of oils, dust, and residue for maximum adhesion. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape to ensure full contact between the adhesive and the substrate. Remove the liner carefully to avoid stretching the thin carrier film. For die cut applications, verify tooling clearances with the liner included to take advantage of the liner edge-burr reduction properties.
