The 3M 7000123415 is a 5 mil double coated tape built around a 1.0 mil clear polyester (PET) carrier film and a high performance acrylic adhesive on both sides. It is designed for bonding to low surface energy (LSE) substrates, powder coated metals, and difficult-to-bond plastics where standard adhesives fail. A 4.5 mil unprinted polycoated kraft paper liner protects the second adhesive face until application. The tape measures 0.75 inches wide and 36 yards long per roll. It is used in manufacturing, assembly, and finishing operations where a clean, transparent bond line and short-term heat resistance up to 350 degrees F are required.
This tape is suited for industrial assembly and fabrication environments where die cutting, automated dispensing, or hand application is performed. The PET carrier provides dimensional stability during hard tool die cutting, reducing edge burr on the liner. It performs reliably on polypropylene, polyethylene, powder coated surfaces, and other LSE materials that present bonding challenges for conventional tapes. Typical users include production technicians, fabricators, and assembly line personnel working with plastics, composites, or coated metal components.
Designed for bonding applications involving low surface energy plastics, powder coated metals, and other difficult substrates where high performance acrylic adhesion is required.
Surface preparation is critical before application — clean and dry all bonding surfaces to remove oils, dust, and contaminants. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape to ensure full adhesive contact. When die cutting, use the unprinted kraft liner side as the cutting face to take advantage of the liner design and reduce edge burr. Follow all applicable workplace safety guidelines when handling adhesive products in production environments.
