The 3M 7000123403 is a firm, double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for demanding bonding applications. At 120 mil thick, it delivers a high-strength bond to high surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many plastics. The tape includes a PET film liner for handling convenience during application. Each roll measures 0.5 inches wide by 36 yards long and is finished in white. It is well suited for structural bonding, vibration damping, cushioning, and impact resistance in light industrial and construction environments. Licensed tradespeople and experienced technicians are the typical end users.
This tape is used across a wide range of applications where mechanical fasteners are impractical or where a continuous bond line is preferred. Common installation scenarios include panel attachment, sign fabrication, architectural glazing, HVAC equipment assembly, and surface-mount bonding in both interior and exterior environments. The closed-cell acrylic foam core performs across a broad temperature range and resists moisture and UV exposure, making it suitable for outdoor as well as indoor use.
Designed for use on high surface energy substrates such as metals, glass, and many rigid plastics. Best suited for clean, dry, and primed surfaces where maximum bond strength is required.
Surface preparation is critical before applying pressure-sensitive foam tape. Clean and degrease the substrate thoroughly; a solvent wipe is standard practice before bonding. Apply firm, even pressure along the entire bond line immediately after placement to activate adhesion. Allow adequate dwell time before applying load to the bond, following the tape manufacturer's application guidelines for the specific substrate and temperature conditions.
