The 3M 7000122485 is a double coated open-cell urethane foam tape sold under the 3M 4016 product family. It features a pressure-sensitive adhesive on both sides and ships with a paper liner to protect one adhesive surface during handling. At 0.0625 inches thick, the open-cell urethane foam core provides cushioning and compressibility that help it conform to irregular or slightly uneven mating surfaces. The off-white foam carrier is 0.375 inches wide and comes in a 36-yard roll. HVAC fabricators, sheet metal shops, and light industrial assembly technicians use this tape to bond panels, create gasket-style seals, and add vibration dampening between joined components.
This tape is suited for applications that require a conformable bond layer with some compressibility, such as attaching trim panels, bonding lightweight assemblies, or providing a cushioning interface between mating surfaces. The double coated construction eliminates the need for separate adhesive steps when laminating two surfaces together. The paper liner allows controlled application and repositioning before final compression. Minimum order quantity is 24 rolls per purchasing unit.
Designed as an OEM-style bonding and cushioning tape for light industrial, HVAC fabrication, and general assembly applications where a conformable double coated foam interface is required.
Clean and dry all mating surfaces before application to ensure full adhesive contact. Peel the paper liner away progressively as the tape is applied to avoid contaminating the exposed adhesive. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape width after positioning to achieve full bond strength. This product is typically handled by assembly technicians, sheet metal workers, or HVAC fabricators and requires no special tools or trade license.
