The 3M 7000122259 is a Buff and Blend Combi-Wheel designed for surface blending, cleaning, and finishing on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It combines alternating flaps of non-woven GP material and coated abrasive resin-bonded material rated at 60 grit, medium grade. This construction delivers more aggressive cut than a standard non-woven brush while still producing a uniform, linear scratch pattern in the final pass. The permanently affixed 0.25-inch steel shank mounts directly to a small straight grinder or flat finisher. HVAC sheet metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and metalworking professionals are the primary users of this wheel.
This combi-wheel suits off-hand grinding and blending operations where a controlled, consistent scratch pattern is required. Typical applications include surface prep on ductwork, pipe, structural steel, aluminum, and other metal fabrications. It is well-suited to finishing passes after weld removal or paint stripping where a linear finish is the target. The resin-coated non-woven mesh construction runs cool and resists smearing, making it effective on heat-sensitive base materials and coated substrates that cannot tolerate excessive heat buildup.
Designed for use on small straight grinders and flat finishers accepting a 0.25-inch shank. Suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces where a linear scratch pattern is required.
Mounting and operation should be performed by trained metalworking or maintenance personnel familiar with angle grinder and straight grinder safety practices. Confirm the tool's rated RPM meets or exceeds the wheel's rated speed before mounting. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves during use. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and do not operate a damaged or deformed wheel.
