The 3M 7000122061 Buff and Blend AP Disc is a non-woven abrasive disc engineered for medium-duty surface conditioning tasks. Built on an open web construction with aluminum oxide mineral, the disc delivers consistent scratch patterns and resists loading, making it well-suited for cleaning, edge deburring, and antique finishing on metal surfaces. Aluminum oxide is a friable mineral, meaning it fractures during use to expose fresh cutting edges, which helps maintain a uniform finish across the workpiece. The disc measures 6 inches in diameter with a 1/2-inch arbor and is rated to 3,600 RPM.
This disc is designed for use on a variety of metals, including ferrous alloys. It is commonly applied in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and light manufacturing environments where operators need controlled surface prep without aggressive material removal. The open web structure allows the disc to conform to part geometry, reducing the risk of gouging or altering the profile of the workpiece. It may also be run with a lubricant to minimize swarf buildup and reduce smearing on sensitive substrates. Available grades include very fine (VFN, red) and medium (MED, tan) to suit different finishing requirements.
Designed for use on ferrous alloys and a variety of metal surfaces; fits standard 6-inch disc tools with a 1/2-inch arbor rated to 3,600 RPM or lower.
Inspect the disc for damage before mounting and confirm the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 3,600 RPM rating marked on the disc. Power down and disconnect the tool from its power source before mounting or removing the disc. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating any abrasive disc. Verify arbor size matches the 1/2-inch bore before securing the disc to the backing pad or mandrel.
