The 3M 7000121944 is a non-woven surface conditioning belt designed for one-step workpiece preparation ahead of final finishes and coatings. Measuring 24 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width, this belt uses aluminum oxide (AO) abrasive on an FE non-woven substrate to deliver high initial cut rate and extended stock removal performance. The open web construction responds to surface irregularities and minimizes gouging. It is well-suited to deburring, blending, and edgework on ferrous metals, stainless steel, and high nickel and chrome alloys. Installed and used by fabricators and metalworking technicians, it is built for applications that demand high contact pressure and consistent, repeatable results.
This belt is intended for surface conditioning tasks where a single-pass operation replaces multiple prep steps. Primary applications include deburring edges, blending welds, and preparing flat and contoured surfaces for coatings or final finishes. The FE material substrate performs at its best on ferrous metals and is particularly effective where high contact pressure and aggressive stock removal are required. The non-woven construction provides flexibility, heat resistance, and long service life, making it a dependable choice for production-rate edgework and finishing operations on stainless steel and high-alloy materials.
Designed as a surface conditioning belt for use on ferrous metals, stainless steel, and high nickel and chrome alloys in metalworking and fabrication applications requiring edgework, blending, or deburring.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by the equipment operator following the belt grinder or finishing machine manufacturer's guidelines. Power down and de-energize the machine before mounting or removing the belt. Inspect the belt and all contact wheels or platens for wear or damage before each use. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling abrasive belts.
