The 3M 7000121828 is a Quick Change P.A.R.T. GP Disc designed for paint and anodize removal at electrical grounding contact points and small holes in metal surfaces. The disc measures 5/8 inch in diameter and is built from resin-reinforced nylon fibers loaded with Aluminum Oxide mineral. It operates at up to 12000 RPM. The center hole geometry self-aligns so the disc cleans only the workpiece hole, leaving the surrounding anodized layer intact. It mounts via a Quick Change TS attachment system, requiring a P.A.R.T. Disc Mandrel sold separately. Licensed electricians and metalwork technicians are the primary installers of this tool.
This disc is used in electrical maintenance and metalwork applications where anodized coatings must be selectively removed from grounding contact points or similar small recessed surfaces on metal components. It is suited for both production and field service environments where consistent, repeatable contact-point cleaning is required. The disc is available in multiple grades, allowing the technician to match abrasive aggressiveness to the specific surface condition and desired finish. Typical applications include aerospace, automotive, and industrial electrical grounding prep work on anodized aluminum parts.
Designed for use with a P.A.R.T. Disc Mandrel, sold separately. Compatible with rotary tools and die grinders that accept Quick Change TS disc attachments and operate within the 12000 RPM maximum speed rating.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified electrician or trained metalwork technician. Confirm the rotary tool or die grinder does not exceed the 12000 RPM disc rating before operation. Secure the P.A.R.T. Disc Mandrel firmly in the tool chuck and verify the disc is fully seated on the mandrel before running. Follow applicable NEC guidelines when performing electrical grounding surface preparation.
