The 3M 7000121509 is a black solid-extrusion sealant tape sold under the Weatherban 5354 product line. It delivers aggressive tack out of the box, making it ready to seal without additional adhesive prep. The tape is formulated with low moisture vapor transmission and exceptional cold flow resistance, keeping seals intact under sustained compression loads. Each roll measures 3/8 inches wide by 1/8 inches thick by 50 feet long and weighs 1.41 pounds. It is suited for glazing, fenestration, and curtainwall work where a durable, weather-resistant seal between dissimilar materials is required.
This tape is designed for sealing applications between glass and metal substrates and also bonds reliably to EPDM rubber. Typical use cases include window and door perimeter sealing, storefront glazing, and metal panel joints in both residential and commercial construction. It is commonly installed by glaziers, window fabricators, and general contractors working on building envelope assemblies. The solid extrusion profile allows it to conform to minor surface irregularities under clamping or fastening pressure.
Designed for use in glass-to-metal and glass-to-EPDM sealing applications typical of commercial and residential fenestration, curtainwall, and storefront assemblies.
Installation is performed by glaziers or envelope contractors following manufacturer surface-prep requirements. Substrates should be clean, dry, and free of oils or loose material before tape application. Apply firm, uniform pressure across the full tape width to activate adhesion and ensure full contact. Follow applicable building codes and sealant manufacturer guidelines for joint design and backup material use.
