The 3M 7000121252 is a rigid, two-part epoxy potting compound formulated for encapsulating and bonding electronic and electrical components. It features a 1:1 mix ratio by volume, a 70-minute work life, and reaches handling strength in approximately 3 hours. The low-viscosity formula flows easily into cavities and around components without requiring heat or pressure. It is non-corrosive to copper and non-exothermic, making it safe for use around temperature-sensitive assemblies. Dispensing requires a 3M Scotch-Weld EPX 200 mL applicator and compatible mix nozzles, which are sold separately. Electricians, electronics technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals are the primary installers.
This compound is used in residential and commercial applications wherever electronic or electrical components require environmental protection, vibration damping, or structural potting. Common applications include circuit board encapsulation, transformer potting, sensor sealing, and connector bonding. The high-flow characteristic ensures complete fill of complex geometries without voids. Its rigid cure profile provides long-term mechanical support for mounted components in control panels, motor assemblies, and similar equipment.
Requires a 3M Scotch-Weld EPX 200 mL applicator and compatible mix nozzles for proper dispensing; these accessories are not included. Designed for potting and bonding electronic and electrical components where a rigid, low-viscosity two-part epoxy is specified.
De-energize all circuits and discharge any capacitors before applying potting compound to live assemblies. Ensure substrates are clean and dry prior to dispensing. Follow the mix nozzle priming procedure recommended for EPX applicator systems to confirm a consistent 1:1 ratio before potting. Allow adequate cure time before returning components to service.
