The 3M 7000121124 is a Scotch-Brite Cross Buff designed for cleaning and polishing inside diameters in precision machining and surface finishing applications. Built with a high-strength, very fine (VFN) abrasive material and a durable nonwoven web, this cross buff delivers consistent results on deburring, satin finishing, denibbing, defuzzing, and surface preparation work. The 2-ply staggered design maintains contact uniformity through the bore and resists premature breakdown under production-rate use. At 1 inch in diameter and 3/8 inch in width, it mounts on a standard 8-32 threaded mandrel. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and aerospace and automotive production technicians are the primary users.
This cross buff is suited for use on inside diameters of lifter bores, valve bodies, valve spools, tubing, and dies and molds. It handles tasks such as removing surface oxidation and rust, removing corrosion, and preparing surfaces prior to coating or finishing. The aerospace and automotive markets are the primary end-use environments, though any production application requiring repeatable interior bore finishing will benefit from the consistent abrasive action of this geometry. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 100 units.
Designed for use on inside diameters including lifter bores, valve bodies, valve spools, tubing, and dies and molds in aerospace and automotive production applications. Requires a compatible 8-32 threaded mandrel for installation.
Installation is performed by threading the cross buff onto an 8-32 mandrel secured in a rotary tool, drill press, or CNC spindle. Confirm the mandrel is fully de-energized and the spindle is stopped before mounting or removing the buff. Follow the tool manufacturer and workpiece material guidelines for appropriate RPM range. Wear appropriate eye protection and respiratory protection when operating abrasive tooling in enclosed or low-ventilation areas.
